3 year old recovering from Stockton pit bull attack

STOCKTON, CA - A mother is speaking out after a pit bull nearly ripped off the face of her 3-year-old daughter, Kaylie Foster.

The little girl was at her father's home on the 2000 block of Alcazar Way in north Stockton when their 5 year old, 80-pound family pit bull, Andy, latched on to her face.

"This is a dog that had to be murdered because it wouldn't stop lunging after my daughter," said Kaylie's mother Kiersten Foster. "I strongly believe that this is no accident. Because this is something that could have been prevented with proper care of that dog or removal of the dog before it happened."

Foster said Kaylie's cheek is sewn together with about 100 stitches.  She said it's too early to tell if her daughter will need plastic surgery.

The pit bull was killed, but Foster said Kaylie won't be returning to her father's home anytime soon.  She said she specifically asked her ex to keep the dog away from the girl.

"This is something that I was afraid of. I expressed my fear to as many people who would listen," Foster said.

No charges have been filed by police, but Child Protective Services is investigating.
