Isleton Cajun & Blues Festival Moves To Delta Loop

Isleton Cajun & Blues Festival Moves To Delta Loop

The Isleton Cajun & Blues Festival has moved to a new location for the 2014 event. Still in Isleton, technically, but not in the city limits anymore. They have moved to the Delta Loop which is just a few minutes away. The event location is at the B&W Resort Marina and Boat storage. The Isleton Chamber of Commerce resurrected the festival in 2011 after the "Isleton Crawdad Festival" was disbanded along with the old Chamber that promoted it for years.

The business owners and residents of the delta loop have welcomed the festival with open arms and the "entire atmosphere and positive attitude is making a world of difference" said Jean Yakatobi, event foreperson.  With the marinas and docking availability the Loop is opening a whole new avenue for boaters and yachts to come from the bay area which will enhance the "family friendly"  direction the Chamber has achieved.

Spring Vegetables: Artichokes

Spring Vegetables: Artichokes

Here in California we are so lucky to have so many wonderful vegetables available to us almost year round.  And one vegetable that is very distinctly California, especially since 99% of the entire nation's supply is grown here in California, is the artichoke.  I LOVE artichokes.  On a recent trip to Monterey, where I passed through Castroville, the home of artichokes, roadside vegetable stands sell them 7 for $1.  ONE DOLLAR!!   Artichokes are actually the official vegetable of California.  And of course they are a healthy green veggie, but they actually have a specific health property; they can aid in digestion, protect your liver and lowers triglycerides and cholesterol.  A large artichoke is only 25 calories and contains no fat.
