(Woodland, CA) – The following special programs will be held during the month of June at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

• June 1: Summer Reading Program Kick-off Celebration, 4:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to come play games, sign up for the 2016 Summer Reading Program and enter for a chance to win prizes.

• June 7: Sports Themed Coloring Pages, 11:00 a.m. Kids ages 6-12 and their parents and caretakers are invited to come to the library and participate in sports-themed coloring. The best coloring page will win a prize! All supplies will be provided by the library.

• June 9 and 23: All Things String, 6:00 p.m. This crafting circle is for anyone who knits, crochets, embroiders or enjoys fiber art. Bring your current project or start something new.

• June 14: Python Ron’s Reptile Kingdom, 4:00 p.m. Back by popular demand! Come and learn all about different reptiles with Python Ron; everything from 4-foot-long lizards to an 18-foot python!

• June 15: What’s Happening, Seniors? 12:00 p.m. Are you looking to get together with interested and active seniors and make new friends? Come share stories, learn from one another and find out ‘What’s Happening’ in West Sacramento and beyond.

• June 15: Evening Book Club, 6:00 p.m. Join us for a discussion of, A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler. Contact Cindy at (916) 731-5504 for more information.

• June 16: Post-It Note Arts, 4:00 p.m. Teens are invited to create their favorite sport mascot using Post-It Notes. The best art piece will win a prize. Post-It Notes will be provided.

• June 17: Tai Chi and Qigong Part VIII, 4:00 p.m. Learn a series of movements and breathing exercises to help with general wellness, stress relief, flexibility and more from Dr. Gigi Tze-Yue Hu, who is completing her master’s degree in Tai Chi. In Part VIII, participants will continue the Tai Chi and Qigong Zoo exercises learned in Part VII, learning new animal movements. New participants welcome.

• June 18: Special Tot Play Time: Olympic Games, 12:00 p.m. This month’s special play time will be toddler Olympic Games: marble racing, bowling and making an Olympic torch. Expand your toddler’s imagination through play and get a chance to win prizes.

• June 18: IT Consultant by Appointment Only, 2:00 p.m. Participants can ask questions and bring their laptops or mobile devices. Samples of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Apple devices will be on hand. Make a 20-minute appointment in English at the information desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.

• June 21: Olympic Games, 4:00 p.m. Kids ages 6-12 are invited to come out and participate in fun Olympic Games that involve jump rope, Frisbee toss and much more! All participants will be entered for a chance to win prizes.

• June 23: Yoga, 6:00 p.m. This is a beginner class introducing the fundamental principles of alignment and breathing work in a flow of postures. Participants will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration.

• June 28: LEGO Competition, 4:00 p.m. Kids ages 6-12 are invited to come and participate in a competition to build the most creative sports-themed masterpiece. All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize.

• June 29: West Sacramento Friends of the Library Meeting, 6:30 p.m. This non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is dedicated to serving the West Sacramento community through supporting library programs and services, and is always recruiting new members.

The following ongoing programs continue in June:

• Russian Story Time: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.

• English Conversation Group: Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.

• Spanish/English Story Time: Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.
