Stockton man arrested after fatal shooting of friend | Crime
STOCKTON, Calif. - A 21-year-old man died at a Stockton hospital overnight after being shot at a home on the 5400 block of Holiday Drive.
According to Officer Joe Silva with the Stockton Police Department, Alexander Centano and his friend, Andrew Torres, 19, the alleged shooter, were both at the residence when the shooting occurred around 11:53 p.m.
Centeno's friends drove him to an area Kaiser hospital where he later died, said Silva.
The friends gave police a description of the alleged shooter which police were able to use to locate and arrest Torres, according to Silva. A firearm was also recovered.
The investigation indicates Centeno was shot in what was described as "negligent discharge of a firearm," Silva said.
Torres was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on a murder charge, Silva said.
The victim and suspect are both from Stockton.
