Man, woman shot at Stockton home

STOCKTON, CA - A man and a woman were injured early Saturday morning when a man shot at their home.

The shooting happened outside of a home on the 1300 block of Derrick Drive around 12:25 a.m.

Stockton police said the 23-year-old man walked outside of his home to close the garage door when he was confronted by the suspect; the suspect said a few words to the man and then shot him.

The suspect fired several rounds at the 23-year-old man and into the home. Police said at least one shot fired into the home hit a 47-year-old woman who was sleeping in her bed.

Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. The 23-year-old, who was shot multiple times, is in critical condition; the woman's condition was stabilized at the hospital. Police said the man and the woman were related.

The motive behind the shooting is unclear. Police continue to investigate the shooting.
